Legacy of Service: Vision Youth Center (2000–2013)

Before launching VYC Foundation Inc., Rene Diane founded and operated Vision Youth Center, an after-school and summer enrichment program located in the Derita community, that served over 200 families and hundreds of youth over a 13-year period.

What began as an after-school program grew organically as the needs of families became clear. Many children outgrew the program academically but did not want to leave the sense of safety, structure, and belonging they found there. In response, Rene expanded the program to include a Teen Center, offering mentorship, meals, recreation, life conversations, and positive social outlets such as pool, ping pong, and group outings.

Parents frequently leaned on Rene not only as a program leader, but as a trusted mentor and parenting resource — seeking guidance during challenging seasons of raising their children.

Vision Youth Center closed in 2013 when Rene made the difficult decision to step away to help care for her father during his declining health. That decision reflected the same values that guided the program: family, responsibility, and integrity.

Today, that legacy lives on through VYC Foundation Inc. and NEXX-GEN, carrying forward the same commitment to prevention, exposure, mentorship, and community-centered support.
